Case Study:
100 Embankment, Salford
Project Overview
100 Embankment represents the final phase of a landmark commercial development in Salford. This nine-storey, 15,400 square metre Grade A office building is designed to meet the demands of modern business while integrating safety, functionality, and future-proof design.
As part of this major infrastructure development, Northern Sealants was awarded the contract to deliver passive fire protection systems across the facility, supporting long-term occupant safety and fire strategy compliance.
Our Role
Northern Sealants was tasked with supplying and installing tested passive fire protection systems across all levels of the 100 Embankment building. We implemented comprehensive fire stopping across service penetrations, including cable trays, ductwork, and mechanical pipework.
Our expert technicians ensured that each product was applied in line with relevant British Standards (BS 476, BS EN 1366), safeguarding compartmentation and reducing fire spread through voids and service routes.
Key Measures
- Fire Stopping Across Penetrations: We installed a range of certified sealants, wraps, collars, and mortars to seal cable trays, ductwork and pipework breaches in walls and floors.
- Collaborative Project Execution: Our team worked in close coordination with the main contractor and M&E trades to complete installations efficiently and avoid delays.
- Compliance & Quality Control: We maintained detailed documentation of every installation, including labelling, photographs, and data logs to support project handover and compliance sign-off.
Project Outcome
Through careful planning and technical expertise, Northern Sealants contributed to a fire-safe, regulation-compliant commercial office building ready for future tenants. Our involvement helped ensure a high-quality finish across fire stopping works, supporting both building control approval and long-term operational safety.
