Case Study:
First Direct Arena, Leeds
Project Overview
Completed in 2013, the First Direct Arena is one of Leeds’ landmark entertainment venues, with a capacity of 12,500. Designed to host major concerts, sports events, and cultural showcases, the arena’s structure demanded an uncompromising approach to fire safety.
Our Role
Northern Sealants was brought on board to deliver passive fire protection across this large-scale facility. Our work included the application of fire-resistant sealants and fire stopping systems throughout the arena's service voids and structural compartments.
Key Measures
- Fire stopping of penetrations across all fire-rated walls and floors.
- Sealing of voids, ducts, and cabling routes to prevent smoke spread.
- Implementation of long-lasting fireproofing solutions to ensure durability.
Project Outcome
We provided a seamless fire protection installation that supported the arena’s compliance with stringent safety standards. Our work enabled the successful sign-off and public opening of the venue, which continues to operate safely to this day.
